A funny one as I’m sure the first thing that pops in your head is but I thought exercise would help me lose weight?
Expending energy through planned exercise or NEAT (not planned such as steps) will help you create an energy deficit.
However doing to much of it can actually hinder your diet.
Let me explain.
Lets say your calories are set at 1600 calories and this is a 500 calorie deficit for you
The calorie calculator worked this out from your current weight, height, age and your activity level. You set your activity level as active. Which include 3 workouts a week and 10,000 steps. Eating 1600 calories on this activity is ok, you can stick to it, your not hungry except for towards meal times and you are sticking to it.
You decide to up your steps to 15,000 and add in another 2 workouts per week. All of a sudden you are constantly hungry, you are not recovering from your training, your sleep is crap and your energy is low. You reach for that sugar hit to keep you going, you are so hungry that you cant stop thinking about food and binge. You start again tomorrow but the same cycle happens over and over again, in comes yoyo dieting!
If this is you and you love the amount of training you are doing think about upping your calories to help you fuel them
Reduce your exercise, its not necessary. You don’t need to train so hard you get sick. You still can get amazing results with less work.
