We all deal and manage stress totally different.
Example – I never feel stressed (or rare) but I get unexplained bloating at random times and things literally fall out of my head and I make mistakes.
Recent mistakes – took Hanna to a party on the wrong day, booked a uber to the airport a day late, booked and paid for kayaking on the wrong day and I use a diary! All this is in the last couple of weeks.
Some people feel the stress physically with symptoms such heart palpitations.
I would like to highlight some other areas that people pass off as normal, but it actually could be stress related.
- Loss of period
- Weight gain around the middle due to increased cortisol
- Headaches
- Getting ill a lot – colds
- Upset tummy – bloating, nervous poo’s!!
- Insomnia
- Lack of sex drive
These are just some symptoms. The list is way too long. We can actually deal with acute stress fine.
Long term stress can be very harmful emotionally and physically.
If you do have any of these symptoms, we need to be taking a step back and really thinking about what is actually important. A visit to the doctor would be advisable.
Avoid high intensity workouts in times of high stress such as HIIT training, you are just adding more stress to your body and that’s not good!
